is designed specifically with the novice enthusiast in mind where its most certainly a challenge in its own right, yet its achievable to almost everybody no matter what level of fitness they possess. The challenge comprises of a 25km course which is undertaken through the three disciplines of Running/Walking, Kayaking and Cycling through four different stages in order to complete Motivate 25°. The course stages are as follows:
The first stage of Motivate 25° will commence in Punchestown Racecourse with a 10 km run over the Kildare and Wicklow hills to the Avon Ri Lakeshore Resort in Blessington, Co.Wicklow.
There will be a transition to kayaks for Stage 2 of the event where competitors will kayak over a 2 km course in a safe and controlled environment before competitors return to the Avon Ri for the transition to Stage 3.
* For those taking part in motivate 25, it is not mandatory or essential to complete the kayaking element of the course if you have any fears in relation to water. While kayaking is safe and there will be a number of lifeguards and stewards on duty on the water (also the kayaking element of Motivate 25 will be relatively short), some still may prefer to bypass this section. This is fine - your timing chip will reflect the fact that you bypassed the kayaking section and no time will be provided for that element. If you do not take part in the kayaking element, you will not be eligible to win prizes in Motivate 25, which will be awarded to the first 6 finishers to complete the entire course but as stated many times, Motivate does not have to be a race and completion of the run/hike and cycling elements is an achievement that you can be very proud of.
Participants who wish to practice the kayaking element in advance of the Motivate Challenge should contact the Avon Ri on 045-900670 for further details on kayaking seissions.
The third stage of the challenge will consist of a cycle through the scenic highways and byways of Wicklow and Kildare for a 12km cycle back to Punchestown where the fourth and final stage will commence.
The final stage on your way to completing the motivate 25° challenge will consist of dropping your bicycle off at a designated area in Punchestown where you will achieve your goal by running a lap of honour around the world famous Punchestown racetrack. Passing the Punchestown winning post joining an exclusive list of champions, that over time have made it one of the most prestigious finales in the country.
